An Overview Of Electronic Ignition System (EIS):
The word ‘ignition’ means the act of setting something on fire which clearly explains what an ignition system is about. Basically, an ignition system is a system of initiating spark that can ignite various fuel mixtures in the vehicle engines. There are many kinds of vehicle available today which are equipped with different ignition systems. Ignition systems are of three main types; conventional ignition system, electronic ignition system and distributor less ignition system. Out of these three ignition systems, the conventional ignition system is the oldest and is rarely found in the vehicles these days. Electronic Ignition System (EIS) or Distributor Less Ignition System are more common in today’s automobiles. Here, we are going to discuss the Electronic Ignition System (EIS) in details.
Internal Structure Of Electronic Ignition System (EIS):
An Electronic Ignition System (EIS) is quite like Conventional Ignition System in design and development. However, few components are entirely different in Electronic Ignition System (EIS). Both the ignition systems are composed of two circuits that are named as primary circuit and secondary circuit. When we examine the secondary circuit of EIS, we found that it is exactly like Conventional Ignition System. Moreover, most part of the primary circuit of EIS is also similar to Conventional Ignition System. The Electronic Ignition System (EIS) varied from the Conventional Ignition System, in the distributor component region. The Electronic Ignition System contains an electronic module, an armature and a pickup coil instead of breaker plate, distributor cam, condenser and points.
Operation And Working Of Electronic Ignition System (EIS):
The Electronic Ignition System (EIS) operates approximately in the same way as Conventional Ignition System operates but with few exceptions. When the ignition switch is turned on the current start flowing in the primary circuit from the battery. The pickup coil or sensor gives signals to the armature to turn on or off the primary circuit. When the current stops flowing in the primary circuit by the action of armature, the accumulated magnetic field in the coil collapsed and develop strong voltage in the secondary windings. Now, the secondary circuit starts operating and it works just like the conventional ignition systems.

The Electronic Ignition System (EIS) is one of the advanced types of ignition systems found today. It is manufactured for latest automobiles and hence contain various advanced features and qualities.
